New data from Â鶹AV show that, despite the widely recognized importance of arts education, equitable access to arts programs and resources is an ongoing challenge for Ontario’s schools. Students in small and rural schools, in schools with higher levels of poverty, and in schools with lower levels of parental education are less likely to have access to learning opportunities in the arts.

This report, based on the results from our annual school survey, identifies equity issues related to fundraising and fees in Ontario’s publicly funded schools. Fundraising inequities appear to be growing, despite the introduction of provincial fundraising guidelines in 2012.

This report, based on the results from our annual survey of schools, shows a disconnect between the roles that guidance counsellors are expected to fill and the amount of time they are available to fill those roles. Over 1200 schools across Ontario participated in the survey, and the findings show that the majority of elementary schools have no guidance counsellors at all, and that the ratio of students to guidance teachers in secondary schools is very high.

The report is based on survey responses from over 1100 principals in English, Catholic and French schools across the province.
